A recent experiment carried out at King's College London has stated that more than one third of us feel paranoia!
They came to this conclusion following a study of subjects in a virtual relaity of a tube train and 40% reported feeling paranoia (not sure if pickpockets, terrorists and other nasties were programmed into this?)
Again the way this has worked its way into the media has further fuelled the debate that we are creatures of dysfunction requiring expert help such as using the virtual reality technology to help people challenge their beliefs.
One psychotherapist on a radio talk show discussed that the feelings of paranoia are a survival mechanism however went on to describe using virtual reality as an extension of CBT to deal with paranoia. This seems to even further separate the client’s view of the world from the view of the therapist. I'm just curious as to how the use of 2D computer graphics can help to co construct a new reality based on the many variables and fluctuations available in the customer’s social construct!
