co-construction

It may have taken some time for me to understand what co-construction really refers to in SF practice however it’s started to become clear. I guess I understood the nature of working together with the client and planning how we could spend our time together more usefully based on what the client wants, it’s only recently that I have begun to understand the power of co-construction of the client’s ‘new future’ and opening of possibilities.

There has always been a little doubt for me around the term guided construction, guided by the expert and I understand the vast difference now between my views and values and the views of the client, guided by them as the expert.

I understand the case for caution based on risks and safety and yet, to maintain the relationship in which co-construction and motivation to change can flourish we have to lead from 1 step behind!
