Creativity and improvisation workshops

I have been recently thinking around at the improvisational knowledge and experiences we (my main man Ben and I) have learned over nearly 2 years of the bitjam live improvised music nights and workshops. We've put on workshops for young people, performed at small festivals, clubs, pubs and even at a conference or 2. We have introduced workshops whereby young people with learning difficulties can improvise music and feel a sense of achievement through creativity.

We have also captured in sound the 'essence' of a visual art based event and Ben improvised a live performance from the sound recordings.

There is likely to be scope for more live shows as well as developing an 'evidence based' creativity and improvisation style workshop for individuals, small groups and organisations. We need to put some time into developing an approach that combines ideas from performance art, solution focused approaches and our 20 odd years combined experience in live music.

Wikipedia describes improvisation as:

Improvisation (also called extemporization) is the practice of acting, singing, talking and reacting, of making and creating, in the moment and in response to the stimulus of one's immediate environment. This can result in the invention of new thought patterns, new practices, new structures or symbols, and/or new ways to act. This invention cycle occurs most effectively when the practitioner has a thorough intuitive and/or technical understanding of the necessary skills and concerns within the improvised domain.

The skills of improvisation can apply to many different abilities or forms of communication and expression across all artistic, scientific, physical, cognitive, academic, and non-academic disciplines. For example, music, cooking, presenting a speech, sales, personal or romantic relationships, sports, flower arranging, martial arts, psychotherapy, the arts, and much more.
