Zen and improvising music

I do dabble in improvised music, it's exciting but can sound like a train wreck when it doesn't go so well. People comment that we sometimes sound well practiced!We have learned that sometimes we add nothing to the mix to compliment what is already going on, sometimes a few notes only to guide the flow of music. Conversations are so like improvised musicians reading each other adding to the piece or not. Well versed conversation 'artists' know when to add a few notes or silence to keep the piece flowing!
